Josh Overington to close Le Cochon Aveugle this year

Acclaimed York restaurant Le Cochon Aveugle is to close in November after almost nine years of trading.

Owners Josh and Victoria Overington said they have "creatively outgrown" the space and are looking to explore "a number of new avenues".

"We have had an amazing time running Le Cochon Aveugle over the past eight years and achieved more than we could have hoped for," said Josh.

"This hasn't been an easy decision to make but the time has come for us to look at some new opportunities which have come our way."

The couple took over the lease in 2014 and the restaurant, which has just five tables, has since won praise for its blind tasting menu. It is listed in the Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland 2022, though does not hold a star or Bib Gourmand.

The Overingtons will make further announcements on their future plans in the coming months.

Their wine and pizza bar/restaurant, Cave du Cochon, also in York, will remain open for business as usual.

Josh added: "We are so grateful for all our team, both past and present, dedicated suppliers and especially our incredible guests, all of whom have supported us since day one and have helped make Le Cochon Aveugle such a success. We hope that they will continue to do that in our future ventures."
