MasterChef winner Simon Wood to open ‘artisan eatery' Woodkraft in Cheltenham

Winner of MasterChef 2015 Simon Wood has announced plans to open "artisan eatery" Woodkraft in Cheltenham later this year.

Woodkraft, in Regent Street, will be a more casual offering from the chef behind Wood restaurant in Manchester.

Making the announcement to social media Wood said: "Woodkraft is the next step in my culinary journey. What we're doing is opening an artisan eatery, it's going to be a more accessible dining concept - everyday dining for everyday people. We're going to use local products cooked by and produced by craftsman.

"It's completely different concept to Wood but retaining the same ethos of classic flavours served with playful authenticity."

Wood told The Caterer that Cheltenham's café culture and the quality of produce in the surrounding area inspired him to open the concept in the town.

Woodkraft will open a four storey Regency town house offering all day dining, featuring a strong breakfast and brunch offering as well as Sunday lunches.

The chef will also be opening a second Wood restaurant in the new Hotel Indigo in Chester in Spring 2019.
