Tom Ross promoted to chief executive of the Pig hotels

Tom Ross has been promoted to chief executive officer at the Pig hotel group as it eyes further expansion.

Ross joined the eight-strong boutique brand in 2013 and has led the company's day-to-day operations since he was appointed managing director in March 2022.

This included overseeing a deal with private equity firm KSL Capital Partners, which took a major stake in the Pig last April to fund its expansion.

In his new role, Ross will continue to run the Pig business and work closely with the group's founder Robin Hutson, who is focused on finding and developing new properties for the Pig brand.

Hutson said: "[Ross] is an outstanding example of "home-grown" talent, and I very much look forward to working with him to develop our new properties and continue to build the business."

The Pig is set to open two new hotels in listed buildings over the next two years. The Pig on the Farm is expected to open in 2024 and will see a 16th century farm located on the edge of the Walton Estate in south Warwickshire redeveloped into a 35-room hotel.

The group also plans to redevelop the Grade I-listed Groombridge Place moated manor house near Tunbridge Wells in Kent. Hutson told The Caterer it could become "the most romantic hotel in England" when it opens in 2025.

Ross said: "I am thrilled for the opportunity to lead this world-class hotel collection. Working with Robin over the past decade has been a privilege, and I cannot wait to continue our collaborative relationship as we capitalise on our new opportunities together."
