Aikens picks up another award

Tom Aikens's impressive year for awards continued at last week's Craft Guild of Chefs annual dinner. Aikens, who earlier this month picked up the Catey for Newcomer of the Year, won the guild's New Restaurant of the Year award for the eponymous Chelsea restaurant he opened last year. He is pictured (second from right) with, from left, Gulam Uddin, from Del Monte, the Countess of Wessex, and Steve Munkley, chairman of the Craft Guild of Chefs. Other award winners included Gary Klaner, executive chef of the Landmark, for Banqueting Chef; Nick Vadis, executive chef to British Airways for Eurest, for Contract Catering; Peter Gordon, chef and co-owner of the Providores, for Restaurant Chef; and David Foskett, of Thames Valley University, picked up the Special Award.
