Ainsworth heads west

Paul Ainsworth, former senior sous chef at London restaurant Pétrus, has taken over the No 6 Restaurant in Padstow, Cornwall.

The 42-cover restaurant, which also has three bedrooms, opened last month with a core team of three other ex-London staff.

Sous chef is David Boulton, also formerly of Pétrus; pastry will be looked after by Chris Mapp, who was at the Greenhouse after moving from Pétrus; and front-of-house manager is Molly Christensen, formerly at the Boxwood Café. All four have a profit-sharing partnership in the restaurant, which was bought for £1.2m. Chris Mapp's father, Derek Mapp, businessman and founder of the Tom Cobleigh chain of pubs, financed the project.

Average spend is expected to be about £35 for dinner without wine.
