Blue Apple Catering wins two contracts with Covid-secure office concept

Foodservice firm Blue Apple Catering has won a contract with Fujifilm under its new Core offer, which is designed to help workplaces reopen and be Covid-secure.

It has been running the catering facilities at Fujifilm's offices and production site in Broadstairs, Kent since September. Blue Apple has also won a Core contract with a second company, which will begin in 2021.

Under the Core concept staff can pre-order and pay for food and drink online, before collecting it from designated points in a pre-booked timeslot.

This is designed to minimise contact between people and allow for social distancing.

The scaled-down offer includes Blue Apple's Fairtrade Pip and Bean coffee and a daily selection of pre-made deli specials, soups, boxed salads and more.

It can be delivered with fewer staff to keep costs and building capacity at a minimum as offices begin a phased reopening.

"With the plan of reviewing our catering in early 2020 we didn't foresee it would be done during a world pandemic with the presentation taking place remotely via zoom but we are delighted to say six months on we have a fabulous and refurbished new staff restaurant where our teams can eat, relax and enjoy," said Clare Scales, HR director at Fujifilm.

Blue Apple said the Core approach has allowed it to remobilise over 60% of its business, with the remainder set to return in early 2021.

"As confidence returns and the office population increases the Core model is built to scale seamlessly in line with the increased customer demand," said Blue Apple in a statement.
