Carlo Scotto leaves Xier to open new Mayfair restaurant Amethyst

Carlo Scotto has left his role as head chef at Xier restaurant in London's Marylebone to open a new restaurant, Amethyst, in September.

The 24-cover restaurant, a former Caffè Nero site at 52 Stratton Street in Mayfair, will offer three- and four-course menus at lunch, with six- and 15-course tasting menus at dinner.

There will also be a chef's table where guests will be invited to prepare a dish under Scotto's tutelage.

He said: "It has been an ambition of mine to open in Mayfair and the pandemic has given me time to find the perfect site and redevelop my menus. I can't wait to share my new dishes with diners come the autumn."

Xier is listed as permanently closed on Google.
