Dishoom launches delivery-only kitchen in Cambridge

Dishoom has launched a delivery-only site in Cambridge as it continues to grow its ‘dark kitchens' business.

Once known for its long queues, the Indian restaurant group has pivoted during the pandemic and opened six delivery-only sites in London and one in Brighton.

The move has created an additional 50 jobs, and Dishoom is also delivering from its restaurant kitchens nationwide.

It has partnered with Deliveroo to offer a menu of dishes designed to travel well, including its house black daal, chicken ruby and keema pau.

Special delivery-only dishes include kathi rolls (chicken or paneer in makhani sauce wrapped in paratha) and a pepper lamb curry.

The company is continuing its ‘meal for a meal' charity pledge, which began in its restaurants in 2015. It means for every meal served Dishoom donates the equivalent through Akshaya Patra, an Indian charity which provides free meals to state school children.

Over 110,000 meals were donated in 2020 through the delivery kitchens alone.

Dishoom was founded by Shamil and Kavi Thakrar and opened its first restaurant in London's Covent Garden in 2010.

It now runs five restaurants in London and one each in Edinburgh, Manchester and Birmingham.
