The Dorchester announces renovation plans for next year

The five-red-AA-star, 250-bedroom Dorchester hotel in London has announced it will undergo a renovation from February 2022.

The renovation will be the biggest since 1989 and will start with the entrance to the hotel, the Promenade and the bar, as well as two guest floors.

As part of the plans, designer Pierre-Yves Rochon will reimagine the property's interiors, with Martin Brudnizki Design Studio enlisted to redesign the hotel bar.

The first phase of the transformation is expected to complete at the beginning of September 2022, and the hotel will continue to welcome guests to the hotel throughout this time.

A new concept for the hotel's rooftop is also expected to launch in the spring.

The Grill, Alain Ducasse and China Tang restaurants will remain open for business as usual, as will the spa.

ReardonSmith Architects was appointed architect and lead designer on the project and has been working closely with the Dorchester management team since June 2019 on a long term design plan for the hotel. This will include a partial redesign of the arrival lobby to make it lighter and enhance its street level presence.

The Catererrevealed last month that Robert Whitfield, regional director and general manager at the Dorchester, had resigned from his position. His next move has not yet been announced and a replacement is expected to be announced shortly.

The hotel is part of the Dorchester Collection, which also includes the five-red-AA-star, 45-bedroom 45 Park Lane and the five-AA-star, 71-bedroom Coworth Park in Berkshire.
