Green & Fortune offers extra payments to staff to help with cost of living

Independent hospitality company Green & Fortune is to offer staff additional payments of up to £600 to help with the rising cost of living.

More than £100,000 will be shared out to the team between November 2022 and February 2023 as part of the Green & Fortune Supports initiative, which was launched during the pandemic.

Calculations were made based on salary, with hourly employees and individuals earning less than £30,000 set to benefit the most from the scheme.

John Nugent, chief executive at Green & Fortune, said: "We've built an incredible team of people who are invested in the business's success and therefore we want to repay this commitment as we face an extraordinary and untrodden outlook.

"We've ensured that those most in need will benefit most financially and want to add something tangible in to our duty of care around each and every person in our team."

Green & Fortune was founded in 2008 and is a London living wage employer that currently operates within four London venues in Kings' Cross, South Bank and Westminster.

A number of hospitality businesses have raised salaries this year amid the cost of living crisis. Pret A Manger is to increase staff pay for the second time this year from December, while restaurant chain Itsu announced last month that it was giving its entire workforce a 13% pay rise.
