Greggs increases full-year profit expectations

Food-to-go chain Greggs has increased full-year profit expectations following a "very strong" start to the fourth quarter.

Total sales for the six weeks to 9 November were up 12.4%, with like-for-like sales increasing by 8.3%.

The year-to-date has seen total sales grow by 13.4% and like-for-like sales increase by 9.2%.

Greggs said that growth, driven by increased customer visits, was better than anticipated, while costs remained controlled.

This has lead the board to anticipate that pre-tax profits for the year will be above expectations.
