Cardiff Jamie's Italian to become Ivy brasserie

The former Jamie's Italian site in Cardiff, one of three sites acquired by Richard Caring earlier this year, is set to become an Ivy brasserie.

The Caterer reported in July that Caring's Caprice Holdings had taken on the restaurant, as well as Barbecoa in London, which will become a second Ivy Asia, and the Jamie's Italian restaurant in Oxford, which is also planned to become an Ivy.

The Ivy Collection, a group of over 30 Ivy Brasseries and Ivy Cafés across the UK, will relaunch the two-floor 5,600 sq ft site this autumn, serving up to 284 covers with outdoor seating and a private dining space with views across the Hayes. The Ivy Cardiff will be the brand's first restaurant in Wales.

Speaking on behalf of the St David's Partnership, a joint venture between Landsec and Intu, Russell Loveland, senior portfolio director for Landsec, said: "We look forward to welcoming the Ivy Collection to Cardiff for its Welsh debut. This iconic restaurant is a fantastic addition to St David's; its fine dining and unique atmosphere offers something new and exciting to the destination."

Kate Grant, regional managing director for Intu, added: "The Ivy's distinctive style will be a strong draw for our guests and provide another extra special element to St David's."
