Rockliffe Hall in County Durham has appointed the former general manager of the Lygon Arms as managing director.

Jason Adams will take over the running of the five-red-AA-star, 61-bedroom golf and spa resort on Monday 13 January. Chairman Warwick Brindle has been overseeing the business since the departure of former chief executive Eamonn Elliott in August.

Meanwhile, Marcus O'Leary will join Lygon Arms on 27 February to replace Adams, who spent 19 months at the hotel. Adams' earlier experience includes stints as general manager of Foxhills Club & Resort, Ottershaw Surrey; Arden hotel, Stratford-upon-Avon; Atlantic hotel, Jersey; and Seaham Hall hotel, County Durham.

Brindle said: "We are delighted to have Jason join the team at Rockliffe Hall. With his luxury resort experience in all aspects of the business we can look forward to further growth and expansion in the future, as the resort embarks on the next ten years of its exciting journey."

Adams added that he was "thrilled" about his new role. "I hope to drive revenues and lead the team to win more accolades as we work together to take Rockliffe Hall to the next echelon of hotelkeeping."

O'Leary will join the four-AA-star, 86-bedroom Lygon Arms from Marriott Vacations Worldwide Corporation, where he has been based for seven years in Orlando, Florida, in global role.

The British hotelier will be returning to the UK after spending more 20 years in the US. He has been with Marriott since 2001, having previously worked for Four Seasons and InterContinental Hotels & Resorts.
