Lainston House joins Pride of Britain

Lainston House - the 50-bedroom hotel in Winchester, Hampshire, owned by the Exclusive Collection - has joined the Pride of Britain marketing consortium.

It has replaced sister hotel within the Exclusive Collection, South Lodge, near Horsham, West Sussex, retaining the organisation's limit of 50 properties "to guarantee quality and exclusivity". Membership of Pride of Britain is granted following anonymous inspections and a majority ballot of member hotels. Hotels are then inspected regularly by mystery hotel inspectors to ensure standards are maintained.

Located within a 17th-century building set in a 63-acre estate of landscaped garden and parkland, Lainston House features the Avenue restaurant overseen by executive chef Phil Yeomans.

It is also home to the Cedar bar and the Season cookery school located within a converted well house in the grounds.

Sunil Kanjanghat, general manager of the hotel, said: "Lainston House is delighted to be joining Pride of Britain's prestigious collection of hotels. We are based in a beautiful part of the Hampshire countryside, yet close enough to explore the delights of historic Winchester."

Peter Hancock, chief executive, Pride of Britain Hotels, added: "It gives us great pleasure to welcome Lainston House to Pride of Britain Hotels – the hotel will be an asset to the collection."
