Chef Michael Carr looking for 'exciting adventure' after leaving the Box Tree in Ilkley

Chef Michael Carr has left the Box Tree in Ilkley and says he is on the hunt for an exciting new adventure.

Carr had joined the Box Tree in April 2019 as join head chef alongside owner Simon Gueller, but left before Christmas and is now looking for his next opportunity.

At the beginning of 2019 he had closed his Harrogate venue Restaurant 92 after three years that had seen it listed in both the Michelin Guide and Good Food Guide as well as receiving praise from The Observer's Jay Rayner for his "huge flavours" and "admirable risks".

The chef, who has previously worked for the Gordon Ramsay Group and Alyn Williams at the Westbury, told The Caterer: "The formula we had was amazing, I just think that Harrogate was not ready for anything like that. If I picked it up and dropped it in to a more happening place we could have cracked it.

"2019 was a difficult year and I'd now like to get involved in something really big and exciting. I'm versatile in my cooking style and I just want to be involved in something exciting."
