Tawny hotel to open within Consall Hall Estate in July

A hotel set within the 70-acre grounds of the Consall Hall Estate and Gardens in rural Staffordshire is to open for guests in July.

The Tawny hotel will offer overnight stays in 55 shepherd's huts, treehouses, boathouses and retreats.

Three years ago owners Fran and William Scott-Moncrieff and Ben and Sarah Reeves began a joint venture to secure a sustainable future for the estate, which dates back to 1246. Working with conservation architects CTD Architects, they developed the Tawny hotel.

Wellness is at the core of the hotel's ethos, with yoga mats provided in each room, an outdoor pool heated throughout the year, and a thatched cottage offering spa treatments. Recycled bikes will be available later this year to help guests take advantage of the five miles of pathways across the estate.

"In response to the growing demand for immersive travel experiences, we have been inspired to create a collection of bold eco-conscious structures with sleek, expressive interiors, against a backdrop of stunning natural beauty," said William.

The hotel's central building will house the Plumicorn restaurant, serving ingredients from the kitchen garden and local area, while the Feather Lounge will offer views of the gardens and a smaller bar menu. An intimate chef's table and private dining space, the Perch, will launch later this year.

Room service will be available in all the cabins and guests can arrange to dine outdoors in locations across the grounds.

The Tawny hotel site was previously home to engineer Wiliam Podmore, who spent 50 years developing the gardens.
