The Ethicurean in Bristol to close in October

The Ethicurean restaurant in Bristol has announced it will be closing in October after 13 years of trading.

Co-owner Matthew Pennington and chef-owner Mark McCabe revealed the time has come to "let go of the venue in Wrington" as the pair are "excited to embrace some new projects".

It comes after the walled garden restaurant launched a £10,000 crowdfunding campaign last December to help the business through a "challenging winter".

The Ethicurean team are due to launch a summer party to celebrate its culture, food and service one last time.

The restaurant was founded by Pennington in 2008 and has committed to offering sustainable British dining to its guests.

It was recognised for its dedication to ethical practices with a Michelin Green star in 2021.

Pennington said: "What a decade and a bit it has been! We are beyond grateful to each and every one of our gorgeous customers for their loyalty, friendship and support over the years. It has been an incredible journey and an overwhelmingly enjoyable one."

"To our staff, past and present, all wonderful characters, you helped to shape the restaurant and make it the very warm and welcoming place it is and enabled us to bring our vision to life for customers – thank you."
