UKHospitality welcomes suspension of Night Tube strikes

UKHospitality has welcomed the suspension of industrial action on the Night Tube.

Strike action by the RMT Union had been scheduled to take place on the Central, Victoria, Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines every weekend between 4 July 2022 and 4 December 2022.

Transport for London confirmed that these strikes will no longer go ahead.

Nick Dent, London Underground's director of customer operations, said: "We are pleased that the RMT has suspended their industrial action on Night Tube services. This is good news for London and we will continue to work closely with all our trade unions."

Kate Nicholls, chief executive officer of UKHospitality, added: "The suspension of industrial action on night tubes is welcome news and hopefully will prove to be the start of a resolution to the dispute.

"Hospitality is battling for survival, let alone recovery. Sector businesses are faced with soaring energy and supply chain costs, staff shortages, higher wage bills, fragile consumer confidence and the slow return of tourism in the capital, and so we desperately need our staff and customers to be able to get to and from hospitality venues in London.

"We urge all parties involved to work to ensure that strikes are avoided."
