Young Pastry Chef of the Year 2020 launched

The search is on for the Master Chefs of Great Britain's Young Pastry Chef of the Year with the winner receiving a scholarship to train in Switzerland.

The competition is open to any pastry chef aged 23 years and under on 1 March 2020 who is working in a hotel or restaurant kitchen, banqueting, for an event or corporate caterer or is a student.

Initial entries for a plated restaurant dessert, petits fours and chocolate centre piece have to be submitted by 4 February 2020.

Three semi finals will take place on 3 March in Glasgow, Sheffied and Slough, followed by the final at the Claire Clarke Academy, Milton Keynes College on 7 April.

The judges will include Ross Sneddon, Benoit Blin, Mick Burke, Mark Poynton, Jerome Dreux and Liam Grimes.

Winner of the Young Pastry Chef of the Year will be awarded the David Lyell Scholarship, named after the late founder and chairman of Town & Country Fine Foods, who passed away in 2009. They will undertake a training trip to Felchlin in Switzerland to attend the new Condirama course and receive £250 cash and a leather Chefi knife case.
