Andy McFadden becomes executive head chef of Pied à Terre

Andy McFadden is to become the new executive head chef of the Michelin-starred Pied à Terre restaurant in London, replacing Marcus Eaves.

McFadden started his new role yesterday, having moved across from Pied à Terre's sister restaurant L'Autre Pied.

The move comes after Eaves left Pied à Terre in September to become executive chef at Oblix in London.

Speaking about McFadden's appointment, restaurateur David Moore, who owns the business, said: "Myself, Mathieu Germond (restaurant manager), Leonora Popaj (general manager) and all the team are thrilled to announce that Andy McFadden has returned to Pied à Terre as executive head chef and company director.

"He is supported by Asimakis Chaniotis and Richard Sinclair in the kitchen. I am very excited by the prospect of Pied à Terre's next chapter with such an amazing team as we enter our 25th year on Charlotte Street."

Moore also praised Chaniotis and Sinclair's performance following Eaves's departure.

"It has been unbelievable how strong the team has been. Marcus left and there wasn't a blink. It has been absolutely amazing."

Speaking about what he expected to change at the restaurant under McFadden, he added: "Andy's food has a very distinct style. The food has a certain Jackson Pollock sense of chaos about it and he has a distinct style in the way he makes his plates look.

"We are definitely pushing on and hopefully it will be an exciting couple of years. Andy has a tremendous amount of energy, so it will be very exciting to see that they do - we have a great team and a great space."

It has not yet been confirmed who will replace McFadden in the head chef role at L'Autre Pied.
