Bird on expansion flight following Crown Partnership investment

Fried chicken and waffle chain Bird is back on the expansion trail after a majority stake in the business was picked up by Crown Partnership last year, as part of a pre-pack administration.

The group's first new opening will be in Brixton's Electric Avenue with several more planned for the year.

The new 40 cover site will serve up classic Bird dishes including fried chicken and waffles with honey butter and Canadian maple syrup, the trademark waffle burger and Bird Brew lager, alongside some new specials and local craft beers.

Crown Partnership is a hospitality and catering business founded by Russell Morgan more than 40 years ago. As well as owning catering businesses Seasoned and Kudos, the group is a business partner with Daniel Clifford's two-Michelin-starred Midsummer House restaurant in Cambridge.
