Outlaw's at the Capital, Smokestak and James St South become final nominees for Menu of the Year Catey
Three more restaurants have joined the shortlist for The Caterer's Menu of the Year Catey award 2017, sponsored by Quorn, which will be judged next week.
London restaurants Outlaw's at the Capital and Smokestak, and Belfast restaurant James St South, join nine other restaurants in making the judging for this year's award.
The three restaurants were all successful in making the shortlist after appearing in The Caterer's Menuwatch pages during February to April.
The trio join London restaurants Galvin HOP, Lyle's, the Ninth, Noble Rot and Som Saa, and Askham Hall in Penrith, Cumbria, Norn in Edinburgh, Swan Wine Kitchen in Tenterden, Kent, and Wine & Brine in Moira, County Down, who made the shortlist having appeared in The Caterer during August 2016 to January 2017.
Restaurants are selected quarterly from all the menus featured on the Menuwatch pages of the Chef section over the previous three-month period.
The menus are judged on innovation within the price bracket of that particular establishment or contract; good use of seasonal produce on the menu; creativity of the dishes being served; careful marrying of textures and flavours of the component ingredients; value for money; and, seeing the menu or selection of dishes, whether the judges would be tempted to eat there.
The full list of 12 restaurants that will be considered for the Menu of the Year Catey 2017 are:
Outlaw's at the Capital, London
Swan Wine Kitchen, Tenterden, Kent
Wine & Brine, Moira, County Down
The Caterer Awards, in their 34th year in 2017 and also known as the Cateys, will take place on 4 July. To explore sponsorship opportunities, contact Rob Adam at rob.adam@thecaterer.com.
